Character Education

There are many qualities that we believe children should learn to possess in order to become compassionate individuals. We incorporate the knowledge of and ways to display these qualities into our curriculum and classroom environment. The character qualities that CCA promotes are:

  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Diligence
  • Heroism
  • Generosity
  • Courage
  • Loyalty
  • Patience
  • Forgiveness
  • Friendliness
  • Self-Control
  • Self-Discipline
  • Patriotism
  • Joy
  • Wonder
  • Fairness
  • Empathy
  • Faithfulness
  • Trustworthiness
  • Graciousness
  • Courtesy
  • Charity
  • Honesty
  • Justice
  • Wisdom
  • Service
  • Stewardship
  • Initiatve
  • Perserverance
  • Mercy
  • Gentleness
  • Humility
Like Habits of Mind, we do not focus on all of these qualities in kindergarten. In kindergarten and first grade we work on the first ten qualities. We focus on one quality a month. At the end of the month at our awards assembly, a few children from each class are awarded for working the hardest to internalize and display the quality of the month. This is always an exciting time!
